DTC Acquires LT Mobile

In December, 2007, DiscoveryTel Communications acquired the licensing assets of LT Mobile, a Nigerian Company that holds Universal License and Frequencies to operate a CDMA network in three states in Nigeria. The three states are Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom.  The total population of these three states is 12.0m.

This acquisition is significant both in the value of these licenses and their ability to position DTC as a leading CDMA provider in Nigeria.  With the increase in demand for CDMA, the Company has the potential of adding more than 500,000 subscribers over the next five years. Network deployment is scheduled for the second quarter of 2008.

Universal Communication Acquired by DTC

In January 2008, DiscoveryTel Communications acquired the assets of Universal Communication, the largest provider of high-speed Internet services in Guinea.  DTC will now own a full range of licenses including an exclusive 2.5-2.7GHZ-WIMAX license; a prepaid international card license; a VSAT network/VOiP; and an Internet license. With the Universal Communication existing customer base and the future potential of these licenses, DTC has an opportunity to become a leading voice/data telecom Company in Guinea.

DiscoveryTel Upgrades WiMax Solution in Ghana

DiscoveryTel is upgrading its existing WIMAX solution in Ghana with the purchase of new telecommunications equipment that will extend its network from Accra-Tema to the outlying cities of Kumasi and Takoradi.  With this growth, DiscoveryTel Ghana effectively covers the entire Golden Triangle region,  WIMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) provides wireless data over long distances, in a variety of different ways, from point to point  links to full mobile cellular type access. In practical terms, this enables a user, for example, to browse the Internet on a laptop computer without physically connecting to a wall jack.  WiMAX is a standards based technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL.  In areas without pre-existing physical cable or telephone networks, WiMAX may be a viable alternative for broadband access that has been economically unavailable.
